Meet the Crossfire Team
“…But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will
soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will
walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:31

Heidi Gossen
Founder
Executive Director
Mentor
Whether working with kids or adults, one of Heidi’s greatest joys is walking alongside others in their pursuit of hope and healing. Partnering with horses in this process brings powerful, eye-opening insights that make each moment meaningful.
With a background in psychology, sociology, and certifications in mental health counseling, life coaching, and leadership coaching, Heidi brings a deep well of knowledge, compassion, and discernment to her roles at Crossfire Ranch. Her heart is to encourage, uplift, and speak truth—even the hard kind—when it helps someone grow.
Every step forward, whether small or life-changing, is a cause for celebration. Witnessing God at work in someone’s life and watching freedom unfold is a beautiful and sacred experience.
A verse close to her heart is:
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”
Psalm 34:8

Elise Baird
Program Director
Elise grew up in southwest Wisconsin on her family’s dairy farm, where she worked alongside her nine siblings and spent every possible moment with her horses. From a young age, she was drawn to the power of horse ministry after reading Bridge Called Hope and Hope Rising by Kim Meeder—books that deeply inspired her with stories of healing and God’s work through horses.
After high school, Elise spent two years serving at Silver Birch Ranch, where she discovered the profound impact that intentional mentorship—rooted in faith and supported by animals—can have on struggling youth. Her time in the barn there helped solidify her calling, and it was during this season that she met Heidi and learned about Crossfire Ranch. Drawn to the mission and vision of the ministry, Elise is excited to be part of the CFR team and all that God is doing through it.
Outside the ranch, Elise enjoys time with her nieces and nephews, baking, singing, reading, and spending time with just about any animal she can find.

Riley Billmann
Program Specialist
Originally from northeast Wisconsin, Riley Billmann began her college journey at UW–River Falls. She subsequently graduated from Tarleton State University in Texas with a degree in Animal Science, emphasizing equine studies.
Riley spent nearly ten years in Texas, gaining experience in various roles at veterinary clinics and horse ranches. Upon returning home to Wisconsin in 2020, she transitioned to the manufacturing world, where she upheld various leadership roles and worked as a Continuous Improvement Engineer.
In June 2025, Riley married her husband. They now reside on a cozy hobby farm with their two dogs, four cats, two miniature donkeys, and one beloved horse (with plans to acquire more animals soon). Riley feels that life’s winding path ultimately led her to her true calling: helping others through the use of horses and following Christ’s guidance. She is very excited to be part of the Crossfire Ranch team and its vision.
Riley’s favorite verse, which she is currently diving into, is Psalm 23:1-3: “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.”

Emma Willems
2025-2026 Youth Apprentice
Emma joined Crossfire Ranch after submitting her volunteer application—and she’s been a joy to have ever since. With one of the kindest and most encouraging spirits, Emma jumps in wherever she’s needed, always with a positive attitude and a willing heart.
During summer camp, she went above and beyond by offering mini riding lessons to campers eager to grow their skills. Her gentle nature, paired with a confident “I can!” mindset, sets a beautiful example for those around her.
Emma now supports our team by helping with horse exercise and ranch chores, and we are truly blessed to have her with us.
“Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in your speech, conduct, love, faithfulness, and purity.” — 1 Timothy 4:12

Calli Dodge
Equine Team
When Calli joined the Crossfire Ranch Equine Team she quickly stood out as a young woman of character, dedication, and tenderness. With a deep love for training horses, she finds purpose in helping them become a blessing to others—offering a powerful reminder of the gift of life.
Her decision to join the team was deeply rooted in her growing faith. Over the years, Calli has seen the unique way animals can convey God’s love and truth, and she felt called to help create those meaningful experiences for others.
A talented and passionate horsewoman, Calli brings fresh challenges and consistent care to our herd. When she’s not at the ranch, she’s training as a competitive figure skater—showcasing the same commitment and grace she brings to every ride.
One of her favorite verses, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13), is a guiding force in her life, encouraging her through every challenge—big or small.
