Volunteer Roles & Opportunities

How to get started... for any volunteer role:

 

The first step is to complete the volunteer application. Someone will then be in touch to set up an initial appointment for a volunteer orientation where you can learn more specifically about volunteer opportunities. If you would like you can bring your signed Liability Release Waiver to your orientation.

Additional Volunteer Roles

PROGRAMS TEAM

Spurs Mentor: Work with a child and a horse to form healthy relationships that promote hope and healing. Requirements: 18+, signed Statement of Faith, weekly 2.5-hour commitment.

Build & Bloom Mentor: Work with 2-4 youth to build healthy, trusting relationships that promote hope and healing. Requirements: 18+, signed Statement of Faith, weekly 2.5 -hour commitment.

Stable Hands Mentor: Work with 1-3 kids to engage in serving the ranch together while helping them develop a sense of leadership and learn the value of giving back. Requirements: 18+, signed Statement of Faith, monthly, bi-monthly, or weekly 2.5-hour commitment.

Camp Leader/Assistant Leader: Come alongside campers during one or more camp weeks, help teach horse safety and basic skills while working as a camp family. Requirements: 14+, Signed Statement of Faith, Basic Horse safety & handling experience. 1-week minimum commitment.

PRAYER TEAM

Prayer Team: Commit to praying daily, weekly, or monthly. Requirement: Signed Statement of Faith.

RANCH TEAM

Ranch Hands: Assist with ongoing upkeep of property (fencing, buildings, and grounds) as well as maintenance of equipment and systems. Opportunity to lead group service projects. Requirements: 18+, (13-17 with 1 guardian), weekly participation encouraged, minimum 4-hour monthly commitment required.

Work Leader: Lead groups of volunteers in various tasks around the Ranch during Barn Chores. Provide direction, answer questions, and help everyone stay safe. Requirements: 18+, weekly participation encouraged, minimum 4-hour monthly commitment required.

Gardener and/or Seasonal Decorator: Tend gardens in all of their seasons, planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting. This is a favorite ranch feature for session kids and their families! Requirements: 16+ (looking for 5 or more with 1 guardian), weekly participation encouraged, minimum 4-hour monthly commitment required.

EQUINE TEAM

Equine Support: Team members assist in maintaining a healthy environment for the horses and those they serve. Learn the ropes of the barn from mucking stalls to horse turn out, graining, and feeding. Great team/family opportunity! Requirements: Kids under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Minimum of 2x/mo. A six month commitment is highly preferred.

Volunteer Recruiter & Coordinator

Are you well connected in our local communities and find connecting people comes as a second nature? The Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in building and supporting a strong volunteer community at Crossfire Ranch. This individual identifies and recruits volunteers whose skills align with the organization's needs, while also developing partnerships and outreach strategies to grow awareness. By establishing a streamlined recruitment process and mentoring other volunteers, they help ensure a meaningful and impactful experience. This role requires strong leadership skills and contributes directly to Crossfire's Mission of offering hope and healing and building community. Flexibility and a heart for service are essential!
